The Krishen Jit Fund

Past Recipients

Since its establishment in 2006, the Krishen Jit Fund has supported 95 projects by artists and cultural practitioners working across Malaysia.

The Fund has provided seed funding to diverse projects - from the production of theatre, dance, music, film, animation, contemporary art, interdisciplinary, and community-based works, to the development of archival, documentation, research, and publishing initiatives, as well as training programmes, and international exchanges.

Deepak Kumaran Menon, for The Diaspora Story: Kalpavriksha, an anthology of 8 Tamil short films exploring the paradoxically beautiful and chaotic issues of identity, culture, and nationhood in Malaysia - with a focus on the Indian diaspora.

Dylan Yeo Kok Siong

Dylan Yeo Kok Siong, for an adaptation of Eugene Ionesco's absurdist tragic farce The Chairs using local Chinese traditional puppetry.

Goh Choon Ean

Goh Choon Ean, for PROJEK BANSAN, a table-top board game inspired by local market culture in Malaysia.

Low Hsin Yin

Low Hsin Yin, for a publication collaboration with a South Korean collaborator, that aims to examine the multilinguality and cosmopolitan typography of Malaysia.

Taha Long

Taha Long, for Tidur Lambak, an immersive performance, highlighting the nostalgic communal sleeping arrangements associated with the Malaysian practice of balik kampung or homecoming.

Vesant Nair, for Goldfish, a Tamil-language family/drama short film about a young boy’s desire to pet a goldfish.
